Bridgeview Project Frequently Asked Questions
What is the plan for EMS coverage?
For an EMS response Selfridge Fire Department will be dispatched along with a Harrison Township Fire Department Ambulance.
Are Selfridge firefighters trained in EMS?
Selfridge firefighters are trained and licensed as emergency medical technicians and will respond with automatic external defibrillators (AED's).
Is patient care going to be jeopardized due to this project?
No, by adding Selfridge to the initial response, the response time to your door will be LESS than it was prior to this project. Care will be transferred to Harrison Township paramedics for advanced procedures and transport.
Are Selfridge and Harrison Fire Departments able to communicate to each other?
Yes, via our 800 MHz radio system Harrison Township dispatchers will be guiding Selfridge direct to your door. Selfridge will be able to advise Harrison crews of their status to make our response even more efficient.
What is the plan for fires?
Harrison Township fire fighters will be responding along with Selfridge and Mt. Clemens Fire Departments.
Will the fire response be delayed because of the project?
No. By utilizing Selfridge at the time of initial dispatch, the first arriving fire crew will be on scene FASTER than before the project.
Will enough firefighters be responding?
As a result of the Bridgeview Response Plan, more firefighters will be responding faster than before. We will be sending Selfridge and Mt. Clemens fire departments at time of initial dispatch to fires in your area. In addition, if Harrison's ladder truck is not available, Clinton Township's ladder truck will be immediately dispatched. This has never been done prior to this plan.
What is the timeline for construction?
The anticipated construction timeline is as follows:
Construction Start Date: February 9, 2009
The bridge will be closed to thru traffic. A detour route will be posted.
Old North River Road will be closed at North River Road west of Bridgeview.
Bridgeview Open to Traffic Date: Late November 2009
Project Completion Date: Late June 2010
All roadway improvements on Duluth St. and Old North River Road, restoration and landscaping work will be completed in 2010. This timeline is estimated at this point and is subject to change!
What is the impact to boaters on the Clinton River?
As far as the Clinton River traffic is concerned, we do not believe this project will have a big impact on the boating community. If the river has to be shut down, it will be rare and will be for no more than 24 hours at a time for specific operations, such as setting the beams and bridge deck cement pouring over the river (both of which would be in late summer/early fall). Advance notice would be provided for boaters.
